The Antikythera Wreck Research Project (GR)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In 1900, a shipwreck with a cargo containing numerous works of art and luxury objects was discovered near the island of Antikythera. The finds included the famous astronomical mechanism of Antikythera, which has not to this day revealed all of its secrets. The shipwreck, excavated several times in the past, was again scientifically investigated between 2014 and 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A new project in collaboration with scientists from Greece, Switzerland and Italy is currently underway. Its goal is to bring together the available documentation and develop a new 3D model in an attempt to better understand the course of the ship\u2019s sinking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bay of Kiladha (Argolid), underwater survey and excavation <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In the area of Franchthi Cave, the search for an Early Neolithic settlement, possibly one of Europe\u2019s earliest villages, will be resumed, using the results of the 2015 offshore piston coring and geoacoustic modeling activites. At Lambayanna beach, a few hundred meters to the north, the extent, both in time and space, of the submerged Early Bronze Age town will be further explored.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
